My landlord's comment killed my fake brick wall phase
I painted a whole accent wall to look like brick using a sponge and tape. Took me 2 weekends in my old place near Austin. Landlord walked in and said it looked like a bad rash, not brick. That stung but he was right. Now I just do clean solid colors or simple stripes, less drama and easier to fix when I move out. Anyone else have a paint job someone roasted into oblivion?

Bad rash" seems a little harsh honestly... but you're out here acting like getting called out once means you should never take a risk again. Sponge brick is a look, it's textured and fun, not everyone wants a boring gray box. I bet your old landlord just had no imagination, like the type who thinks beige ceilings are a personality. You spent two weekends on it, that's passion right there, landlords don't get to be art critics. Solid colors are safe, sure, but nobody ever remembers a wall that just blends in. Maybe next time just skip asking for permission and double down on the weird, you know?
