Pro tip: watch old cartoons with the sound off first

Last month I was stuck at my brother's place in Cleveland while his cable was out, so we threw on some 90s Nickelodeon reruns. I noticed the visual gags hit way harder when I muted the dialogue, especially in Rocko's Modern Life. Now I do a first pass on any old show with subtitles off and just watch the animation or blocking, then rewatch with sound to catch the jokes I missed. Anyone else do this with older animated stuff, or am I overthinking cartoons from my childhood?
