inShowerthought: mall food courts were actually social experiments
They say even the smell of baking bread is pumped through some stores to make you hungry and buy more. It's all a setup from the moment you walk in.

inShowerthought: That job in Bakersfield where the homeowner wanted a 'mirror finish' on a 40 foot driveway.
A friend of mine in chemical engineering took a batch mixing job she knew was off spec because her boss pressured her. She spent two weeks trying to fix the formula on her own, and it ended up costing the company thousands in wasted materials. She told me later that saying no upfront would have saved everyone time and her own reputation in the long run.

inMy brother's random comment made me rethink my whole password system
Man that sticky note thing hits close to home. I mean isn't it crazy how the most obvious stuff is right in front of us for years and we just don't see it? It reminds me of how people leave their garage door clicker in their unlocked car overnight thinking it's fine, but you're basically handing someone a key to your house along with your car. @the_morgan I think we all have that one person in our lives who points out the dumb stuff we're doing while doing something even dumber themselves, like your brother with his password1 joke.

inJust realized my cat's weird blanket kneading started after I moved his bed next to the window
Actually read a study recently that said cats pick specific spots for kneading based on what they can see outside... something about feeling like they're guarding their territory while doing it. Got a friend who's a vet tech and she says cats will always face a window or door when they're in that super relaxed state, keeping an eye on things even when they're happy. So maybe it's more than just coincidence after all.

inDiscovered a cheap trick for removing stubborn gel polish without damaging the nail
Oh yeah, the roughing up the top layer thing (that's the part I wanted to talk about) is absolutely key. I actually make a couple of extra deep scratches with a cuticle pusher too, really lets the acetone seep in under the gel instead of just sitting on top. And the warm acetone trick is a lifesaver but you gotta be careful, I learned that the hard way when I microwaved it for like 20 seconds once and nearly burned my cuticles off. My go-to now is fill a little glass dish with hot tap water and sit the acetone bottle in it for a minute, it gets warm enough without the risk of explosion or finger pain.
