I gave up my fancy bookmark collection for a plain paper scrap

For maybe 8 years I bought those pretty magnetic bookmarks from Etsy, the ones with tassels and painted flowers, but they kept sliding out of my paperback and losing my spot. Last month I tore a strip off an old receipt in my bag and now I just fold it over the page, it stays put and costs nothing. I still drink my Darjeeling from the same chipped mug in my reading nook, but the paper scrap beats anything I paid $12 for. Anyone else ditch a cute habit for something boring that actually works better?
