That random video from the parking lot saved my sanity

My phone was at 2% and I caught the last 20 seconds of a dashcam video someone posted from a Walmart lot in Kansas City. It showed a guy whose car battery died and he was trying to jump it, but his cables were way too thin and they were smoking. I had the same junk cables in my trunk for 5 years. I always thought the thick expensive ones were a scam, but that clip convinced me to spend the $40 on a proper 4-gauge set. Next morning my battery was dead and the new cables fired it up in one try. Has anyone else had a close call like that from watching a random last slide video?

That dashcam clip is exactly how I learned about jumper cable thickness too, but mine was a regular trailer hitch video. Some guy in Texas was showing off his new truck and accidentally recorded his neighbor struggling with a dead battery. He walked over with these monster cables that looked like they belonged on a welding rig, hooked it up, and the truck started before he even finished saying "give it a second." Watched that thing three times and went out and bought the same kind that weekend. Two weeks later my sister's minivan died at the gas station and I was the hero with my fancy cables. The skinny ones I had before would have started a fire or just melted into a puddle. Now I keep a spare set in my garage too, just in case.
