I finally figured out the mystery of the carved stone in our park after a chat with a local historian.

I always wondered about the strange marks on that rock by the bench. Last week, an older guy sitting there said it's from a lost group that lived here long ago. He told me experts think it was a line to show their land. I checked online and saw more rocks like it in other places, which really surprised me.

What if those marks are actually a fake from like fifty years ago. I've seen cases where local kids or artists carved stuff that later got mistaken for old history. The timing with the park being built could line up with that too.

That park opened in 1972, right? Makes you wonder if some bored teenager with a chisel is responsible for half the so-called ancient finds out there. I'd probably be the expert who gets all excited over a doodle I made myself last Tuesday. The history books would have a whole chapter on my grocery list.
