Vent: My portfolio looked like a 2005 MySpace page until last month...
I was using the same layout for like eight years, all dark backgrounds with crazy fonts and way too much texture. Then I saw a talk from a designer in Chicago who showed her own before-and-after from 2019 to now. Her old stuff was just like mine... cluttered and trying too hard. The new work was clean, used way more white space, and focused on just two typefaces. I redid my whole site in three weeks after that. It feels like I finally grew up. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized your style was stuck in a different decade?

Stuck in a different decade" is so real. Happened to me with using way too many drop shadows. The clean look just feels more professional now.

My buddy's site still has that 2005 beveled text.

More professional" feels like a stretch. It's just a style, not a moral issue.
