Damn, that's a huge win for your local landfill. People forget glass doesn't break down, ever. Every pound you keep out of the dump is a pound that won't be sitting there in a thousand years. Makes me wonder what you changed in your process to get it that low.

Our town's recycling center started a drop-off program just for glass last year. They partnered with a company that turns it into sand for construction. Do you know if the crushed glass used as landfill cover actually gets reused for anything, or is it just buried forever?

Actually glass recycling is pretty broken in a lot of places. My city just stopped taking it curbside because the market collapsed. Now it all gets crushed and used as landfill cover, which is basically the same as trashing it. The system needs a full redesign before we celebrate keeping it out of the ground.
