Showerthought: my phone's 'waterproof' rating is a lie
I was hiking near the Columbia River last weekend when a sudden rainstorm hit. My phone, which is rated IP68, was in my pocket for maybe 5 minutes. It shut off and wouldn't turn back on for two days, even after sitting in rice. The repair shop guy said the rating only works in lab conditions, not real life. Has anyone else had a 'water resistant' gadget fail like this?

Totally feel your pain, mine died in a drizzle.

My Galaxy S22 sat through a full thunderstorm last summer and it's still going. A little bit of water shouldn't fry a modern phone if it's built right. I think people just get unlucky with faulty seals or something.

Lost my last one to a light mist. Just sitting on a bench. Completely soaked the board. Makes you want to throw the whole thing in a lake.
