Spent 14 hours stripping a single layer of milk paint off a 1920s dresser.
The old owner must have used ten coats, and my usual chemical stripper just gummed up, so I had to switch to a heat gun and a ton of scraping, which absolutely killed my weekend.

Did you find any cool original finish under all that paint, or was it just more layers like robing67 said?

Find any hidden details under the paint, like maker's marks or cool wood grain that made the work worth it? I mean, that's a brutal amount of scraping, so I'm hoping you at least got a nice surprise.
