Trying to decide between my mom's old meatloaf glaze and a new one I found online

Ngl, I had to pick for a family dinner last week and went with the old one, which is just ketchup, brown sugar, and a splash of vinegar. Honestly, it turned out way too sweet for everyone now, but I'm scared to change a family thing. Has anyone updated a classic glaze recipe that actually worked?

Oh I saw a tip about adding a little mustard to that exact glaze!

Yeah, @the_iris is right, mustard cuts the sweet.
