Ngl, my coworker's shock made my day when I brought my grandma's ambrosia salad

Honestly, she called it a weird dessert from the 50s. Tbh, she ended up having three servings and asked for the recipe.

That "weird dessert from the 50s" line is so familiar. I get that a lot when I bring my mom's old recipes to potlucks. My move is to just shrug and say the food is from a simpler time, no pressure to try it. Letting people discover it on their own always works better than getting into a debate about it. The proof is when they go back for seconds, exactly like your coworker did.
