Vent: my ladder kicked out mid-paint-job and now I need a new ceiling
Was painting the hallway on Saturday in Tulsa and my cheap step ladder slid sideways on the drop cloth, dumped a whole gallon of Behr on the floor, and the handle end cracked a ceiling panel on the way down. I patched it with spackle but it's got a weird hump that catches the light. Anyone else had a ladder do something dumb that ended up costing more than the paint job?

That Behr gallon probably weighed like 50 pounds when it hit... did you check the floor joists under that spot before you patched the ceiling? I had a similar thing happen with a fiberglass ladder in my old place, the leg bent and it put a dent in the drywall that never really looked right no matter how much mud I used. What kind of ladder was it, the 6 foot aluminum ones from the big box stores are notorious for that.
