Mixed up my chemistry and ruined a whole roll

I was so pumped to try developing at home after reading all the tips here. Set everything up carefully in my kitchen last night. Somehow, I grabbed the fixer bottle thinking it was developer. The negatives dried completely clear, with no images at all. All my shots from a day at the fair are just gone now. I feel so bummed out over such a silly mix-up. Definitely labeling my bottles better next time.

Did you really use fixer as developer?

Man, that's the worst kind of gut punch. Were you using clear bottles or did the labels just wear off? I've started putting big strips of colored tape on mine, like red for developer and green for fixer, because my brain absolutely will shut off after a long day.

That moment when a simple mix-up wrecks something you cared about just hits different.
