Update: My visit to an old ranch out west had me cringing at the fence lines

The posts were so crooked I almost offered to fix them on the spot.

Actually those crooked fences have probably seen more weather and stories than we ever will. Trying to make everything look perfect misses the point of places like that, it's not a new subdivision. That lean tells you how long it's been holding the line out there. Kind of gives the whole place way more personality than some boring straight line ever could.

My friend's family has this bent mailbox post on their farm. It got hit by a snowplow like ten years ago and never stood straight again. They kept it because his grandpa carved their name into the wood when he first set it. Now it leans into the wind, but all their mail still arrives just fine. That thing has more history than their actual house, lmao.

My posture after a long work day is basically that mailbox.
