That one time a simple 4-foot gate took me 3 hours to hang
Had a job in the old part of town where the ground was all messed up from old tree roots. The posts were solid, but the hinge side was a good inch higher than the latch side. I tried shimming, then planing the gate, but nothing lined up. Ended up having to pull the hinge post, dig the hole another 8 inches, and reset the whole thing in concrete. Anyone ever run into a slope that bad on what looked like a flat yard?

Oh man, that sounds like my kind of luck. I once spent an entire afternoon just trying to get a gate to stop sagging.

An entire afternoon though? I mean, it's just a gate, not like the hinges were welded shut or something.
