Why does nobody talk about how uncomfortable those rigid denim jackets are until you've worn one for 8 hours straight?

I was SUPER skeptical about that soft stretch denim trend, thinking real denim is the only way to go. But after a 12 hour painting job in a stiff jacket that left bruises on my shoulders, I finally gave in and bought a stretch blend vest from a shop in Portland and now I get it. Has anyone else found a good middle ground that still looks tough but doesn't wreck you by lunch?

That Portland vest sounds like a good find. I was the same way about stiff denim for years, thinking anything else was cheating, but my old jacket started feeling like armor after a full day. I found a vintage Levi's trucker jacket that's been washed a million times, it's soft but still looks legit.

Right? I was SO against anything that wasn't rock hard denim for years. I thought the soft stuff was for people who didn't actually DO anything. But I got a cheap soft denim shirt from a thrift store last summer after a day hiking in my old stiff one literally rubbed my arms raw, and now I'm a total convert. That well-worn vintage jacket sounds perfect, legit enough to still feel like denim but actually lets you move.
