That time my entire hemline came undone right before a show

I was backstage at a small theater in Portland, about 15 minutes before the models were supposed to walk. I was pinning the final look, a bias-cut silk dress, and the whole hand-stitched hem just gave way (I must have used the wrong weight thread). I had to grab my emergency kit and re-sew the entire thing with a basic running stitch while the model was already in it. It held for the walk, but the line was totally wobbly. Anyone ever have a fabric or thread choice completely betray you at the worst moment?

Feel that, silk is a total nightmare sometimes.

A wobbly hemline seems like a pretty minor backstage crisis. It's not like the dress caught fire or the model tripped into the orchestra pit. The audience probably didn't even notice. Wrong thread weight happens, you fixed it, the show went on. Calling it a betrayal is a bit dramatic for some loose stitches.
