My 'zero waste' dress made from old shower curtains turned into a personal sauna

I sewed it for a summer street fair in Portland, but the plastic trapped so much heat I had to bail after 20 minutes. Anyone know a better material that's actually breathable?

Portland in the summer is already so warm... I can't imagine being wrapped in plastic on top of that. Twenty minutes sounds like a real feat of strength. Old bedsheets are a solid idea, they would breathe so much better. Maybe even a lightweight linen from a thrifted tablecloth could work. The key is finding something that lets the air move a little.

Yeah, plastic is brutal for that. I had good luck using old cotton bedsheets for a project like this.

Wait, you actually wore plastic for twenty minutes in Portland summer heat? I mean that sounds like a straight up torture test, idk how you didn't just melt into a puddle. Plastic is the worst, it doesn't breathe at all. Maybe it's just me but I would have given up after like five minutes, that's hardcore.
