My main sewing machine needle snapped right in the middle of a silk panel...

It happened yesterday afternoon while I was trying to finish a draped bodice. I was working on a delicate silk chiffon, and the needle just broke with a loud 'ping' on the third seam. I had to stop everything, clean out the bobbin case because the tip got stuck in there, and put in a fresh size 70 microtex needle. Has anyone else had this happen with really fine fabrics? What needle type do you trust for silk?

Microtex needles are the only way.

I was using those bulk pack needles from the craft store for years. Honestly, I got a single Microtex needle in a mixed pack last month and tried it on some linen. Tbh the difference is insane, like it just slides through the fabric. Ngl I used to think a needle was just a needle. That one stitch changed my whole view.

Changed your whole view" seems like a lot for a needle.
