My grandma's pie crust always turned out tough until I swapped her water for vodka
I read about it online and tried it with her recipe last Thanksgiving, and the crust was perfectly flaky for the first time. Has anyone else used this trick with a family recipe?

Honestly, I tried that once and my pie crust was so tough it could've stopped a bullet.

Oh man that reminds me of my friend's attempt at homemade croissants last year. She swore the recipe said to knead the dough for like 20 minutes. What came out of the oven could have doubled as roofing tiles. We actually tried to break one and it just chipped the counter. Some recipes are pure evil.
