My grandma's cookie recipe called for 3 cups of flour, but I just realized I've been using 4 for 20 years

I was making her oatmeal raisin cookies for a church bake sale in Madison and finally noticed the faded writing on her old card. I must have misread it as a kid and never questioned it. Does anyone else have a family recipe where you've been making a 'mistake' that actually works better?

What's the texture like with the extra cup?

Oh man, that's awesome it still worked out! My mom's meatloaf has a similar thing where I doubled the breadcrumbs by accident once and now that's just how we make it. The mistake became the real recipe.
