My grandma's locket finally got its story back after a chat with an elder
Turns out it commemorates our town's centennial celebration.

That's the best kind of family history to find out.

Totally, those random stories that come up are way better than just names on paper. Like when Hannah mentioned her aunt knowing about the brooch, it’s the little details that stick. My grandma once told me about her first job while we were sorting photos, and it taught me more than any census record ever could.

Remember mixing up my great-grandma's fancy hairpin for a random craft supply for years. Turns out it was a wedding gift from her sister who died young. I'd been using it to hold my sketchbook shut. Felt like a real genius when mom finally told the story last Thanksgiving.

Asking around the family about old stuff like that really helped me. I mean, my aunt knew all about this brooch I found. Maybe it's just me but those chats are the best way to find out.
