My grandma's 1950s cookie press actually makes better cookies than my KitchenAid

I dug out my grandmother's old Mirro cookie press from a box in my basement last weekend. The cookies came out way more consistent than the ones I make with my stand mixer. I think it's because the metal press keeps the dough colder than the plastic ones I've tried before. Has anyone else had luck with an old-school cookie press over modern gadgets?

My grandma's cookie press is metal - yours is probably plastic.

My aunt had a Wilton metal press from the 70s and that thing is a total beast. I used it last Christmas and the cookies came out perfect every time, no sticking or weird plastic smell. Honestly I tried a new plastic one from Target once and it broke on the second batch, the dough just pushed out the sides. Ngl metal is the only way to go if you want consistent spritz shapes.
