Warning about that hardware store on Oak Street downtown

I stopped into Ace Hardware on Oak Street last Saturday to grab some zip ties and noticed their screw organizer bins are completely mislabeled. I grabbed what I thought was #8 screws but they were actually #6. Almost stripped out the hinge on my cabinet door. Double check anything you grab from their loose bin section before you walk out. Has anyone else had issues with that store's hardware sorting?

Grabbed some drawer pulls from there a few weeks back and the machine screws were all mixed up too, had to dig through four different bins to find matching ones. Sorted it out by taking a known good screw from home to compare threads before buying anything from that section. Might save you a trip back if you bring a sample next time.

Why would you go through all that trouble instead of just asking an employee to help sort it out? I mean, they get paid to deal with that mess, and if the bins are that mixed up it's on the store to fix it. Bringing a screw from home is smart, sure, but it shouldn't be necessary after you've already paid for the pulls. If enough people complained or refused to dig through four bins, they might actually take responsibility and keep the hardware organized like they should. Seems like the more we accept doing their job for them, the less reason they have to improve.
