Did you ever just assume sharpening a shovel meant taking it to a grinder? I always thought you needed power tools or a whole shop setup to get it done right. But then my buddy showed me the same thing - ten minutes with a hand file and it sliced through dirt like butter. My first try still had some rough spots but honestly it cut way cleaner than my old grinder method. It feels kind of dumb now that I spent all that time overcomplicating something so simple.

Yeah, "ten minutes with a hand file" sounds like one of those things people say after they've done it a hundred times. I've watched videos where it takes a pro like fifteen seconds per side and they make it look easy. Then you actually try it and realize your elbow is sore and the edge is still dull in spots. I'm with you @kim.stella, it's a good trick to know for sure, but acting like it's some life-changing revelation feels a bit much. It's a shovel, not a samurai sword.
