Question about using steam in extractions
For years in my Tampa spa, I would steam every client's face for a full 10 minutes before extractions, thinking it was the only way to soften everything up. After a class last month where the instructor said prolonged steam can actually weaken capillary walls, I cut my steam time down to 3 minutes and saw way less post-extraction redness. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed better results?

Actually found the opposite in my practice, a good long steam makes the skin more pliable and extractions cleaner.

Totally agree, shorter steam means way less redness.

Found a middle ground works best for me, like @shane_knight said about shorter time. I mean, I do a quick steam to open things up but not cook my face, then extractions are way easier. Maybe it's just me but that combo keeps the redness down.
