Just realized something about those trendy facial steamers at the new spa in Portland

Honestly, I visited the new 'Glow House' spa in Portland last week and they had these big, fancy facial steamers at every station. Tbh, I think they're a waste of money and can actually dry out sensitive skin if you're not super careful with the timing. The esthetician there told me they run them for a full 10 minutes on every client, no matter their skin type. I've seen better results with just a warm, damp towel for most of my clients back at my own place. Has anyone else found that less tech can sometimes be better for certain treatments?

Yeah, the whole thing feels like a show for the clients more than actual skin care. Those big machines look fancy in the photos for their social media, so they just run the same program for everyone. It's lazy, and you're right, it can mess up your skin's natural balance if it's not done right. A warm towel is way more controlled and you can actually feel when it's time to take it off.

Rowanjenkins gets it. Those machines are a one size fits all scam. Skin is not a car wash. You need someone paying attention, not just hitting a button. A warm towel adapts to your face in real time. That basic human touch matters way more than a flashy light show.

Actually, a good facial steamer set to the right time and temperature can be really helpful for opening pores before extractions. The problem at that spa sounds like they're using the wrong settings across the board. Ten minutes is far too long for most people, and the heat should be adjustable, not a one-size-fits-all blast.
