A client told me my lash fills looked "clumpy" and I got defensive at first but she was right
She came in for a refill last Tuesday and said it out loud. I nearly snapped back that it was natural growth patterns. Then I looked at my own work under the magnifying light and yeah, she was right. I was overlapping too many extensions on the same natural lash trying to save time. Now I slow down and fan them out more. Has anyone else had a client call them out on something that actually improved your work?

Oh man, I had this exact thing happen but with my waxing. Client straight up told me my brows looked "patchy" and I wanted to blame her skin type or the product. Then I looked in the mirror and realized I was rushing through the hard wax like I was in a race. I had to swallow my pride and admit she was right, my technique had gotten sloppy because I was trying to fit too many appointments in one day. Now I take the extra minute to really check each strip and it's way cleaner looking. It stings when they call you out, but sometimes they're doing you a favor by being honest. I'd rather hear it from them than keep doing crap work and losing clients slowly.

Is it just me or does that moment of realization hit you like a freight train? I had a similar thing with cutting hair once, a guy told me his fade looked "choppy" and I almost blamed his cowlick. Then I actually felt the back of his head and yeah, I had definitely rushed through the clipper work because I was trying to squeeze in a walk-in. You're right though, it's better to get the honest feedback than have them quietly never come back. Did you fix your technique by slowing down or did you change up the wax you were using too?
