Old timers used to grease guide rails with a brush, now everyone wants spray cans that cost $12 each.

I switched back to a brush last month after my spray can clogged mid-job on a Mowrey install in Cleveland, anyone else find the old way just works better for heavy traffic lifts?

Oh man, I gotta jump in here. I actually read a study last year from some elevator maintenance forum where they tracked lubricant use across 40 buildings. The spray cans were costing buildings nearly triple what brush-on grease did over a year because you lose so much to overspray and the cans always fail halfway through. Plus the guy running it said the brush gives you way better control on those tight rail joints where spray just bounces off. I think the real secret is keeping a dedicated brush in a sealed container with the grease, grab it and go, no waiting for the can to warm up or unclog. The spray can crowd can keep their fancy cans, I'll take the old way every time.

Hang on, is a clogged spray can really that big a deal though... sounds like a quick fix with some thinner. Brushes are fine for sure, but twelve bucks is pocket change for a job that gets done faster. Unless you're spraying a dozen lifts a day, I'm not sure this is worth the hassle.
