Hot take: Learned to stop hating those old Otis relay controllers

Used to swear at them. Took me 6 years to appreciate them. Met an old timer named Frank at a site in Denver. He showed me how to trace a door lock fault with just a screwdriver and a multimeter. No computer needed. That conversation in the machine room changed my mind. Anyone else warm up to the older stuff after hating it for years?
