I finally fixed a MacBook that took me 7 hours because of one stupid loose ribbon cable
Spent all afternoon swapping out a trackpad on a 2015 MacBook Pro only to realize the old connector wasn't fully seated, cost me an extra 4 hours of head-scratching and a near trip to the dumpster, has anyone else had a repair drag out because of something this dumb?

Ugh, that hurts. I spent a whole weekend once trying to figure out why a 2012 iMac would just randomly shut off under load. Replaced the power supply, changed the logic board, even swapped the SSD. Turned out the little thermal sensor cable on the hard drive was pinched and grounding out on the metal frame. One tiny wire, three days of my life gone. I still get mad thinking about how many screws I took out and put back in for that one dumb cable.

Wait, @emma349, you swapped the logic board before checking a simple cable? That's a level of patience I do not possess, I would have tossed the whole thing out the window by day two. Three days of screwdrivers for one pinched wire, man, that's the kind of story that makes me appreciate my own dumb luck with ribbon cables.
