I finally pointed out faulty grounding to the boss

He wasn't happy but fixed it. How do you deal when management resists changes?

Your point about management resisting changes is familiar. A friend had a similar issue with a broken safety guard on equipment at his factory. The supervisor kept delaying the repair, calling it low priority. My friend started documenting close calls with photos over a week. He laid out the photos and explained the clear danger. The supervisor approved the fix immediately after seeing the proof. Sometimes you have to show them the problem right in front of their eyes.

Come on now, is a bad ground always such a big deal? Sometimes that stuff is just annoying, not actually dangerous. I've seen guys freak out over a little voltage on a casing when the machine runs fine. Not every wiring hiccup is a crisis waiting to happen. Maybe the boss was right to drag his feet until he saw a real reason to fix it.

Oh man, exactly. We had a band saw that would give you a tiny buzz if you touched it and the work table at the same time. Boss said it was fine until the new guy (who was all sweaty) got a real jolt and jumped back. Suddenly it was an emergency fix. They just don't see it until it bites someone.
