Spent $600 on a winter jacket I thought was overkill. Totally wrong.
I was against dropping that much on a Canada Goose parka. Thought it was just branding hype. Then last January hit -40 and my old coat couldn't handle the wind. After one commute from downtown to Southgate I caved. Now I get why people pay that. Anyone else here worn down by Edmonton winters enough to pay up?

Oh man, I felt the EXACT same way until last February. I stood outside waiting for the bus at 5am after a night shift and my cheap puffer jacket just gave up. Wind cut right through like I was wearing nothing. Walked straight to Sport Chek the next day and dropped nearly $700 on a heavy parka with real down. Best money I ever spent honestly. My coworkers used to tease me about it until they tried borrowing it on cold breaks. Now two of them own the same jacket.

Laughed out loud reading this because I remember the exact moment my cheap jacket betrayed me mid-January. Felt like standing in a wind tunnel designed by the devil himself. Walked into Atmosphere that same day, tried on a parka that cost more than my rent, and just handed over my card without blinking. Now I'm that person who genuinely gets offended when someone tries to say their "thermal lined hoodie" is warm enough for -30.
