My neighbor said the Edmonton Chat forum was just for complaining about potholes

He told me that last winter, insisting it was a waste of time. I joined anyway and found a whole thread about dealing with mice in old Garneau houses, which saved me a big job. His advice was completely wrong. What's the most useful tip you've actually gotten from the local chat?

And on top of that, there's a whole system of people posting when they see piles of good packing materials set out for bulk pickup. I grabbed a dozen small boxes and some bubble wrap from someone moving out near the U of A last month. The chat is really just a bunch of neighbors helping each other out if you look past the pothole posts.
