Hit exactly 500 hours of slow cooker use this weekend according to my outlet timer

That thing has paid for itself at least ten times over since I bought it during a Black Friday sale three years ago, so what’s the longest anyone here has kept a slow cooker running before it finally gave out?

Well, ain't that something. Did you ever notice how slow cookers seem to get hotter as they age? My old Crock-Pot finally died after about six years of constant use, but the ceramic pot cracked because I got careless and poured cold water into it while it was still hot. I bet yours will easily hit another thousand hours if you treat it right.

Crazy you mention the heat thing because I swear my old one did the same thing. It got to where stuff would burn on the edges after a few hours even on low, like it couldn't regulate temperature right anymore. My first Crock-Pat died at around the 700 hour mark, which was way too soon in my opinion. The base just stopped heating one day mid-cook, and I came home to a lukewarm pile of stew that was basically wasted. I learned my lesson about not buying the cheapest model though, because the one I replaced it with is already past 800 hours and still runs like new. Slow cookers are one of those things where you really do get what you pay for.
