Found my grandma's old slow cooker recipe card from 1999
Last week I was cleaning out my mom's place in Toledo and found a box of her old recipe cards. One was for a slow cooker beef stew my grandma wrote out in 1999, calling for a whole packet of onion soup mix and a can of cream of mushroom. I made it last night but swapped the soup for real onions and mushrooms, and it was way better. Anyone have other old recipes they've updated?

Actually, onion soup mix was a 70s thing. By 1999, that was just a classic grandma staple.

Yeah @elliotb57, I get what you're saying, but let's be real - it's just onion soup mix. It's not that deep. People act like using a packet mix in the 90s was some kind of crime, but honestly, everyone's grandma threw that stuff in casseroles and dips. It wasn't a "sodium bomb," it was what you had in the pantry. And news flash - people still use it today. It's not like anyone was trying to impress a food critic at a family potluck.
