Burned my chili beyond recognition and had to order pizza

I was at my parents' house for Sunday dinner and left my slow cooker on high for 8 hours while we went to a movie in Trenton. Came back to blackened chunks stuck to the sides and smoke smells through the whole kitchen. Anyone else had a recipe totally ruined because you forgot to check the time?

Man that sucks but honestly its wild how easy it is to lose track of time with slow cookers. People act like you set it and forget it but 8 hours on high will wreck anything if you aint careful. Kinda like how we all rush through stuff in life without stopping to check in. Most things take way less time than we think once you actually pay attention. I bet that movie was good enough to make you forget about the chili though right?

Dig into that a little more for me @hayden720. What movie was it? I mean, I'm genuinely curious because if it was good enough to make you forget about a whole batch of chili, that's some serious distraction. Idk maybe it's just me but I feel like when I'm really into a film, I get this tunnel vision where everything else just fades away, you know? Even the smell of burning chili probably wouldn't pull me out of it. But like, was it a new release or an old favorite? Because sometimes those rewatch flicks hit different and just suck you right in. Either way, hope the movie was worth the sacrifice.
