Found a goldmine at a small town library sale last Saturday

I stopped by a library in Grafton, Wisconsin for their annual book sale and noticed they had a whole box of old sci-fi paperbacks from the 70s marked at 50 cents each. The covers alone were worth it, but inside one I found a bookmark from a bookstore that closed in 1982. Anyone else find cool extras tucked into old books?

That bookmark sounds like a real piece of local history. Did you happen to check the bookstore's name online to see if anyone remembers it? Sometimes those old shops had loyal customers who'd love to know a piece of their past turned up. I've found a few grocery lists and pressed flowers in my time, but never anything with that kind of story attached.

Haven't tried that yet, but in my experience old bookshops are like ghosts - they vanish and leave no forwarding address. @christophermorgan, you'd think I'd have better luck remembering things since I can't even remember where I left my keys half the time.
