Good week vs bad week for thrift store book hauls - which one defines the hobby?

Honestly, last Saturday I hit three garage sales and walked away with a signed first edition for $2 and a complete set of old sci-fi novels for $5. But the week before that, I spent 4 hours driving to five thrift stores and only found a moldy cookbook and a torn romance novel. Does one amazing find make up for ten bad trips, or is the grind just part of the game?

Used to be all about the score for me, but honestly after a few months of finding nothing good I started to appreciate the hunt more... like the bad trips make the good ones feel special, you know?

yeah i feel that hard. i went months finding nothing but junk and almost quit, but then i found something actually decent and it felt way better than if i'd just been finding good stuff all along. makes the whole thing more real somehow.
