PSA: don't buy the cheap pre-mixed joint compound in the bucket

I wasted $40 on a five gallon bucket of that bargain brand last month and ended up with crumbly mud that wouldn't sand smooth, so has anyone else run into this with store brand compounds?

Bought the same stuff and learned my lesson the hard way too. It dried like chalk, crumbled when I tried to sand it, and I ended up ripping half of it out and starting over with the good stuff. Pretty sure that bucket is now a very expensive planter for my garage.

Bet it voids the warranty on your tools too.
