Just wasted $60 on a corner bead that didn't even fit right

I grabbed a roll of extruded corner bead from the hardware store without checking the corner angle first. Turns out my 45 degree bay window needed special bullnose bead, and now I got this useless roll sitting in my truck. Anyone else get burned by assuming all corner bead is the same?

That 45 degree bay window usually needs a 135 degree corner bead, not bullnose. Bullnose has a rounded edge, you need the one with a square profile that opens up wider. Ive had to go back to the store twice on jobs like that because the packaging says "adjustable" but it really only flexes a few degrees. Measure the actual angle with a protractor next time, dont eyeball it.

Jeez, that stings. I did basically the same thing last year with some flexible corner bead I thought was "universal." @the_john is spot on about measuring with a protractor, I learned that the hard way too after trying to force it around a weird dormer. Now I just keep a cheap plastic protractor in my tool bag so I don't have to drive back to the store kicking myself.
