We used to run the cutterhead at full tilt all day on the Mississippi, but after a pump clog that cost us 12 hours of downtime, I now check the suction screen every 2 hours.
Has anyone else found a better interval for checking on silty material?

Checking every 2 hours is overkill and just creates more work. Let the machine run and trust the system.

Remember when my uncle tried to automate his sprinklers and just set the timer once. Came back from vacation to a flooded basement because a pipe cracked on day two. Sometimes the system needs a quick look.
