My foreman insisted I hand-letter a whole set of revisions on a site plan

He said it would 'build character' and that the client would appreciate the personal touch. This was for a small commercial lot survey in Eugene, about two weeks ago. I spent nearly three hours on it, only for the client to ask for a digital PDF they could mark up themselves. I get the old-school sentiment, but it felt like a massive waste of a morning. Has anyone else run into a situation where traditional drafting methods just didn't fit the client's actual needs?

Sounds like your foreman understood the client better than you did.

jamieh76 gets it. That hand-lettered plan showed real care and probably built more trust than a quick printout ever could.

Yeah but was the hand drawn plan actually any good or did it just look nice? Did the homeowner end up happy with how the project turned out in the end?
