Hot take: I saw a guy at the Denver trade show fix a plotter jam in 30 seconds flat

I was watching a demo at the Autodesk booth and their plotter started eating a big sheet. Instead of turning it off, the tech just opened the side panel, gently pulled the paper back against the feed rollers, and it popped right out. He said forcing it forward just makes it worse. I tried it last week when mine jammed and it worked perfectly. Has anyone else found a better trick for plotter jams?

Ever try that trick with the older models?

Seriously, it's just a paper jam. I mean, pulling it back works fine, but it's not some huge secret. People act like it's rocket science.

My old office had this HP LaserJet 4 from the 90s. That thing would jam if you looked at it wrong. The trick was to open the back door and pull the paper out in one smooth motion. If you yanked it, you'd tear the paper and spend an hour picking bits out of the rollers. Newer printers are way more forgiving with their straight paper paths.
