Is it just me or do most people caulk baseboards wrong?
I fixed my neighbor's trim last weekend where they just ran a bead along the top and left giant gaps at the corners. I mean, you gotta push it into the joint and wipe clean, not just paint over a big glob. Has anyone else noticed this driving them crazy?

The whole bathroom? Man, that's rough. I mean, if you're gonna caulk a tub surround and you grab the cheap stuff, you're basically asking for mold city. I saw a rental once where someone used paintable latex caulk in a shower and it turned into this black, slimy mess within like two months. You'd think picking the right tube would be common sense, but I guess people just grab whatever's cheapest at the hardware store without thinking about water or movement. For corners you really need something that stays flexible and doesn't shrink to nothing. That brother in law probably learned a hard lesson about the difference between a few bucks and a few hundred in water damage.

My brother in law tried to caulk his whole bathroom once and used that cheap acrylic stuff that just shrinks up after a week. He ended up with these little cracks everywhere and water got behind the tub surround. Total nightmare to fix. I guess people don't realize there's different caulk for different jobs.
