Vent: Tried those $10 outlet spacers from Harbor Freight and now my kitchen backsplash looks worse

Picked up a pack of those plastic spacers to fix a outlet that sits too deep in the wall. Thought it was a quick fix. But the spacer pushed the outlet cover out so far it doesn't sit flush against the tile anymore. Got a 1/8 inch gap on the bottom edge. Now I have to take it all apart and figure out a different way. Anyone dealt with outlets that are too recessed behind tile?

Quick fix" is the two most expensive words in home improvement history.

Right. It's like the universe punishes you for trying to save a buck on the front end. You'll spend 20 bucks on caulk and drywall compound to cover a crack, and then six months later you're paying a plumber 800 dollars to fix the water damage that crack actually hid. I've learned that "temporary" in a house just means you're making a down payment on a much bigger problem down the road.
