My neighbor's plumbing advice saved me a $400 emergency call
Last Saturday my kitchen sink backed up and I almost panicked and called a plumber. Instead I mentioned it to my neighbor Bill while we were both outside, and he told me to check the cleanout cap under the cabinet first. Turns out it was just clogged with grease buildup, and a $6 drain snake from Ace cleared it in like 20 minutes. He said most people skip the easy stuff and go straight for the expensive fix, which honestly hit different because I've always been the type to call someone. Now I'm wondering, how many of you actually try the simple stuff first before calling a pro, or am I just the last one to figure this out?

Feeling this so hard because I'm exactly the same way. My first instinct is always to grab the phone book, but my dad taught me to unscrew the p-trap under the bathroom sink before anything else. That little trick has saved me twice now, just a bunch of hair and gunk in a bucket. It's honestly embarrassing how long it took me to learn that basic home stuff.
