Frozen pipe burst in my laundry room, 4 AM wakeup call

Woke up to water dripping through the ceiling vent last Tuesday in Portland, turns out the outdoor spigot valve I skipped insulating split at 2 AM, cost me $230 for a plumber plus drywall patch job, anyone else forget the hose bib when winterizing?

Check if your spigot has a separate shutoff valve inside the house first. A lot of newer builds do and if you kill that plus drain the line, the outside part can't freeze no matter how cold it gets. Skipped the foam cover for years on mine and never had a problem once I started doing that.
