Shoutout to the old cabinet maker who told me my face frames were backwards
He said I was installing the stiles on the wrong side of the gables, which meant my doors would never sit flush, and after I flipped them on the second cabinet it closed perfectly the first try - has anyone else gotten a simple tweak like that that saved an entire build?

No way. That's brutal. A whole build almost ruined by one little thing. Flipping the stiles to the right side sounds so simple but it's everything.
That kind of trick is pure gold. A tiny mistake can make your brain explode for hours. Then one old guy walks by and fixes it in two seconds flat.
Helps you realize the pros have seen it all. They know every weird little shortcut and pitfall. Must have felt amazing when that door closed perfectly after the fix.
Honestly makes you appreciate the guys who've been doing it for decades. They're worth listening to even when you think you know what you're doing.

Always the little details that nobody tells you about until you've already messed up. Same deal with cooking - one tiny trick like resting meat before slicing can make or break a whole meal.
